Disciplinary complaints against registered medical practitioners are prosecuted by the Health Care Complaints Commission before the Medical Tribunal or a Professional Standards Committee (PSC). The Tribunal and PSCs are legally separate from and independent of the Medical Board, which provides administrative and technical support for proceedings and implements any hearing decisions. General information about disciplinary hearings is available in the following overview.
Upcoming Medical Tribunal hearings
Medical Tribunal hearings are listed in the Sydney Civil Court Lists of the NSW District Court. Any inquiries should be directed to the NSW District Court Registry.
Upcoming PSC hearings
Professional Standards Committee hearings are listed weekly on this site. The Medical Practice Act states that the proceedings of PSCs constituted after 1 October 2008 are to be open to the public except where the Committee directs otherwise. As a PSC may order that an inquiry be closed, or that details not be published, the Medical Board is unable to release any information about the hearing other than the name and date below. Further detail about proceedings is also contained in:
The following hearings are listed for the week beginning 8 February 2010
Persons attending a hearing must abide by any non-publications directions made by the PSC Chairperson. Information regarding PSC proceedings and attendance is detailed in the following:
